Starting at the Kilngreen car park, they crossed the Ewes Water, followed the path round by the ruins of Langholm Castle, crossed the first footbridge, and passed the new extension to Langholm Academy. The walkers continued along Eskdail Street, Wauchope Place, and over the Wauchope water into Buccleuch Park. Climbing the banking on Gaskells Way, it was westward on the track past Murtholm and the cemetery, near Skipper’s Brig. After lunch, there was a steep climb on open moorland all the way to the summit of Warb Law and the transmitter station, where fine views were admired. After a short rest, it was down the access track, back into Buuccleuch Park, across the Wauchope and back to the cars via Caroline Street, Elizabeth Street and Thomas Telford Bridge. Next walk is on February 16 in the Greenlaw area, and will be led by Margaret Bell. Derek Robinson is holding his yearly slideshow in the Camera Club today (Friday). All are welcome.
